Tarass Guziks is a Senior Associate Consultant & Certified LEV Specialist with Armstrong Environmental, specialising in LEV testing and workplace exposure assessments. Having worked across a wide range of industries throughout the UK, he brings technical expertise, enthusiasm and a passion for continuous learning on every project.
I’ve been with Armstrong Environmental for three and a half years.
As a Senior Associate Consultant, I carry out LEV testing, air sampling and noise surveys across a wide range of industries throughout the UK. No two days are ever the same, which is one of the things I enjoy most about the role.
A big part of my job is working closely with colleagues and clients to make sure projects run smoothly and deliver the best possible outcomes. More recently, I’ve also been training a new technician, helping him take his first steps into the world of occupational hygiene.
Without a doubt, it’s the people.
We’ve built a fantastic team and there’s a genuine sense of support throughout the business. Whether we’re working together on projects, sharing ideas in the office or heading out on our annual team walks in the Lake District, there’s a great atmosphere that makes coming to work enjoyable.
I also love the variety of the role. Every site is different, every client has unique challenges and every day offers an opportunity to learn something new. Travelling around the UK and meeting people from all kinds of industries has given me experiences I wouldn’t have had anywhere else. It’s a role that keeps me learning, developing and discovering something new every day.
Occupational hygiene is a profession where learning never stops. Alongside day-to-day client work, we’re constantly developing our knowledge through specialist training and professional development.
One of my long-term goals is to complete a Master’s Degree in Occupational Hygiene and continue building my expertise in the field.
It’s difficult to choose just one.
I’ve spent a lot of time working at a powder coatings manufacturer in the North East, and it’s always rewarding returning to a site where you’ve built strong relationships and become part of the wider team.
Hinkley Point C also stands out. Seeing the scale of such an important national infrastructure project up close was incredible, and I was proud to play a small part in supporting work on the site. It’s one of those projects that really highlights the importance of health, safety and occupational hygiene on a major scale.
Colleagues would describe me as:
Energetic, encouraging and intelligent.
Be patient and focus on developing your knowledge and experience. Occupational hygiene is a specialist field, and it takes time to build expertise.
Always treat people with respect, communicate honestly and be willing to learn from your mistakes. Protecting your reputation and maintaining professional standards is more important than any short-term gain.
Most importantly, stay curious. Listen, think critically and make use of the resources available to you. The best learning often comes from analysing challenges yourself and understanding why things happen.
