Safebridge® Global Compound Congress & Expo Philadelphia Trip 2026

In May 2026, Managing Director Mark Armstrong travelled to Philadelphia, USA, to attend the 2nd Safebridge® Global Potent Compound Congress & Expo.

Over the two-day event, sessions focused on:

  • Recognising and identifying hazards
  • Evaluating facilities, equipment and risk
  • Controlling and managing exposures
  • Verifying control and continuous improvement

Presenters from leading organisations including Eli Lilly, Merck, Sanofi and ILC Dover delivered talks on a wide range of topics. These included “Measured and Managed: Merck’s SMEPAC Playbook for Containment Verification” and “Case Study: API and Surrogate Sampling in R&D Scale-Up Activities.”

The congress provided valuable insight into current best practice, emerging technologies and real-world containment challenges within the pharmaceutical and potent compound sectors.

The trip also offered an opportunity to explore some of Philadelphia’s most famous attractions, including Independence Hall — the UNESCO World Heritage Site where the Declaration of Independence was signed — and the Liberty Bell Centre.

Mark also visited Reading Terminal Market, one of America’s most famous indoor public markets, known for its diverse cuisine and iconic Philly cheesesteaks.

One of the highlights of the visit was the Philadelphia Museum of Art, home to the famous “Rocky Steps” and panoramic views across the city.

“Events like this are invaluable for sharing practical containment knowledge and staying up to date with developments across the industry.”
